Tesse, a new restaurant collaboration with Bill Chait and Jordan Ogron is right in the middle of the Sunset Strip. Chait is behind such greats as Republique, Bestia, Sotto and Otium. So Tesse does not disappoint. The room fronting on Sunset Boulevard evokes the dusky charcoal tones of the nighttime desert, accented with notes of wood, leather and cork. The lighting is perfect and sultry, I always think, the darker the better. The adjacent wine shop Boutellier, is well curated and diners can select a bottle of wine and buy it to be served in the restaurant. or reserve the private dining room at Boutellier which is only open to diners at Tesse.

The food… Delicious. So many options. Don’t miss the Caviar Toast, blue crab simplissime, beff tartare and Vegetable Beignets to start, but you will want to try every starter.. I can never say no to Bone marrow so I suggest trying the Bone Marrow Bucatini. The scallops with Black truffle are melt in your mouth. If you are still hungry the dry aged TBone should put you in a food coma. The deserts are very special so try to save room for the almond butter cake, or if cheese if your weakness they have an excellent selection. The cocktail menu is adventurous and creative and the bar scene is also lively and fun if you are just looking for a cocktail and a nibble.
